Robert Marbun Appointed as Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance, Where Will Heru Pambudi Go?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has officially inaugurated Robert Leonard Marbun as the Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance on Friday (27/3/2026). He replaces Heru Pambudi, who has held the position since 12 March 2021. Purbaya stated that the replacement of the Secretary General position at the Ministry of Finance is a routine rotation, as Heru has been in the role for five years, following his previous position as Director General of Customs and Excise on 1 July 2015. “So it’s a routine rotation, as he has been Secretary General for five years, so we think it’s necessary to refresh,” said Purbaya after the inauguration of Robert Marbun at the Ministry of Finance, Jakarta, on Friday (27/3/2026). Although he no longer holds the position of Secretary General, Purbaya emphasised that Heru will still be at the Ministry of Finance. He is still considering a suitable position for Heru’s new role. “For now, stay here while we find a suitable position later,” said Purbaya.
