Robert Lewandowski Confirms Departure from Barcelona
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Striker Robert Lewandowski has confirmed that he will leave Barcelona at the end of the 2025/2026 season, and will therefore play his last home game at the Camp Nou stadium when they host Real Betis on Monday (18/5) early WIB.
“After four years of challenges and hard work, it is time to move on. I leave with the feeling that the mission has been accomplished. Four seasons, three titles,” said Lewandowski, quoted from his personal Instagram account, Saturday.
In his farewell post, the 37-year-old thanked the fans who had welcomed him since he first joined Barcelona.
“Thank you to everyone I met during these four wonderful years. Special thanks to Barcelona President Joan Laporta for giving me the opportunity to experience the most amazing chapter in my career, bringing Barcelona back to where it should be,” said Lewandowski.
Previously, he had delivered an emotional speech in front of his teammates and coaching staff during a training session this week.
Lewandowski admitted that he was proud to have been part of Barcelona and the Blaugrana squad in the last four seasons.
Although he has confirmed his departure from Barcelona, Lewandowski’s next career destination is still unknown.
His contract with Blaugrana is indeed nearing its end and since September, reports have emerged that he is expected to leave in the summer of 2026.
Regarding his future, Lewandowski admitted that he is still considering several options. He has recently been linked with clubs from Italy, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
This season, Lewandowski’s role under coach Hansi Flick has begun to decrease. Ferran Torres has been chosen more often as Barcelona’s main striker.
Lewandowski has only started in 15 La Liga matches this season, although he has still managed to score 18 goals from 44 appearances in all competitions.
Barcelona signed Lewandowski from Bayern Munich in July 2022 with a transfer value of 50 million euros. During his time wearing the Blaugrana jersey, he has made 191 appearances and scored 119 goals.
Lewandowski immediately led Barcelona to win the Spanish League in his debut season after scoring 33 goals in all competitions. He also played an important role when Barcelona won the domestic treble in the 2024/2025 season with a contribution of 42 goals.
Before joining Barcelona, Lewandowski defended Bayern Munich and successfully won the Bundesliga for eight consecutive seasons with the Bavarian giants.
