Robert Downey Jr Inaugurates Disney Adventure Cruise Ship in Singapore

Disney Cruise Line welcomed its newest vessel, Disney Adventure, into its fleet. The celebratory ceremony took place last night, Wednesday 4 March 2026, in Singapore, signalling the arrival of the first Disney Cruise Line ship to sail in Southeast Asia. On board the ship’s Walt Disney Theatre, guests witnessed Disney storytelling brought to life by regional singers, video effects, and star-studded surprises, including special appearances by Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse. A 23-member orchestra, Hollywood Performing Arts Hall of Fame inductee Jed Madela, and international recording artist and Eurovision alumnus Dami Im performed Disney, Pixar, and Marvel classics with dazzling visuals surrounding the stage and audience. Disney Experiences Chairman and incoming The Walt Disney Company CEO Josh D’Amaro, along with Disney Signature Experiences President Joe Schott, joined the stage to mark the milestone. ‘As our first ship homeported in Asia, Disney Adventure opens a new chapter for Disney Cruise Line and brings the Disney magic to audiences who may be experiencing it for the first time,’ said D’Amaro. Actor Robert Downey Jr, appointed as the ship’s Godparent, offered a blessing for the ship and all its guests. ‘I have had the honour of getting to know the Walt Disney Imagineering team, and Adventure is the perfect name for what they have created,’ he said. The celebration closed with the appearance of many Disney characters in a festive performance of ‘Let’s Set Sail’, a Disney Cruise Line tradition to build excitement for the journey ahead. Drawing inspiration from over a century of Disney, Pixar and Marvel stories, Disney Adventure features seven immersive themed areas, including San Fransokyo Street from the film Big Hero 6. The ship also offers a new Broadway-style musical titled ‘Remember’, immersive dining experiences, a mid-sea fireworks display, an innovative kids’ club, an adults-only lounge, and thrilling attractions such as the first Disney Cruise Line roller coaster at sea, Ironcycle Test Run. Disney Adventure is the eighth Disney Cruise Line ship and the largest to date. The ship begins its inaugural voyage on 10 March, followed by an initial three- and four-night itineraries. The ship is part of a multi-year expansion of the Disney Cruise Line fleet, which currently comprises eight ships and plans to add five more by 2031.
