Robbery victim found dead
TANGERANG (JP): The body of Udin, 30, a driver of a palm oil truck container who was robbed on Saturday along the Jakarta- Merak toll road, was found at an irrigation area in Ampel Kampong of Gembong village here on Sunday morning, police said.
Udin's body was found by neighborhood chief Juha.
"His hands and feet were bound by plastic rope and the eyes and mouth were sealed with tape. His body was full of stab wounds," Balaraja Police detective chief Second Lt. Jarkasih said, adding that the remains were sent to Tangerang Hospital for an autopsy.
Udin's attendant, Rahman, was separately dumped by the robbers in Gebang village in Balaraja. He was found in poor condition by locals, who rushed him to a nearby clinic in Cengkudu village.
Police are still investigating the case as the truck was abandoned and destroyed by the culprits in Garda village in Cikande subdistrict, Pandeglang regency.
"We seized the remains of the truck as evidence and we collected more information from Rahman," Jakarasih said.
Rahman told the police that the truck was robbed at 4 a.m. on Saturday by a group of seven men, who were impersonating police officers.
The group, riding in a minivan, stopped the truck along the Jakarta-Merak toll road near Bitung and hijacked the container, Rahman said.
The robbers drove the truck to Serang, where they tortured Udin and Rahman and later dumped them. (41/edt)
