Robbery Task Force Formed, Metro Jaya Police Chief: Six Cases Solved Immediately
Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief, Asep Edi Suheri, stated that the formation of the 24-hour ‘Robbery Hunter’ Task Force within the Metro Jaya jurisdiction has yielded immediate results. “Yesterday, we successfully uncovered six cases occurring within the Jakarta legal jurisdiction,” Asep announced at the Jakarta City Hall on Monday (18/5).
Asep explained that the success of the robbery hunter team is partly due to reports provided by the public. He urged citizens not to hesitate in reporting similar incidents to the police, adding, “If there is any information, please inform us immediately so that we can take prompt follow-up action.”
Regarding robbery and other street crimes, he instructed all Metro Jaya Police personnel to take firm action against perpetrators who endanger the public. “Do not hesitate to take firm and measured action in accordance with Police Regulation (Perkap) Number 1 of 2009 regarding the use of force in policing,” Asep emphasised.
Previously, the Director of General Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Iman Imanuddin, stated that the formation of this team is a response to the rise in street crime, which causes not only material losses but also threatens public safety. “This robbery hunter team is on standby 24 hours a day to maintain public security and minimise criminal activities in high-risk areas,” he said on Sunday, 17 May 2026.
The special team will be stationed at several points identified as high-risk for robbery and other street crimes in Jakarta and its surrounding areas. In addition to routine patrols, the team will respond rapidly to community reports regarding street crimes. The presence of this team is expected to restrict the movement of criminals and serve as a deterrent.
The formation of this special team is part of the Metro Jaya Police strategy to strengthen the security of the metropolitan city, which maintains high mobility 24 hours a day. The public is also advised to remain vigilant while driving, particularly during high-risk hours, and to report any suspicious activities to the police immediately.
