Robbery suspect surrenders

SURABAYA: A fourth suspect in the Rp 1.2 billion ($520 million) heist at a local sub-branch of Bank Panin has turned himself in to the police after his mother made an appeal on newspapers and television, Antara reported.

The suspect, an employee of the bank identified by his initials Sup, called his mother in Surabaya and told her that police could pick him up at a location in Mojokerto.

Police investigators said that when Sup was asked why he took part in the robbery, he responded that he hated his bosses.

Police believe five men, including two employees of the bank, were involved in the robbery during the Idul Fitri holiday. They have already arrested four and are still hunting for the fifth. (emb)
