Robbery on a train

From Kompas

I went home by train from Kota station to Pondok Ranji, Bintaro Jaya, Tangerang, some time ago, when a robbery took place within a matter of seconds in North Jakarta, traumatizing me.

Several robbers appeared from behind, standing beside me and wielding a long dagger. While threatening passengers, they turned toward me, with a blade pointed to my face. I was so scared that I could only close my eyes tightly until they left. The criminals got away with a handbag and shopping bag containing a cellphone and important ID/bank cards.

A young man near me was slashed on the left shoulder and left arm, stabbed under one of his right ribs and the fingers of his right hand were injured. The robbbers jumped from the train while it was still moving. I stopped at Angke station and reported the incident to the police, while the victim was taken to the nearest hospital to be treated for loss of blood.

I would like to appeal that railway passengers be alert against suspicious men or leave the train if any of them is around. Security officers should always be on hand because the thugs, arriving in a group and aged in their early twenties, have often turned up on the same route.
