Robbery Hunter Team Formed, Metro Jaya Police Chief Orders Decisive Action Against Perpetrators

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) have formed a ‘Robbery Hunter Team’ to address street crime in the capital. The team will be deployed to several crime-prone areas across Jakarta.

Metro Jaya Police Chief, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, acknowledged the current surge in street crimes in Jakarta, including theft with violence and robbery. He stated that the formation of the Robbery Hunter Task Force is a direct response from the police force to resolve these cases.

Speaking at Jakarta City Hall on Monday (18/05/2026), Asep revealed that the team has already successfully uncovered six street crime cases in Jakarta. He urged the public not to hesitate in reporting street crimes, including robberies, to the police. He also called upon members of the media to provide information promptly so that authorities can take immediate follow-up action.

Asep has issued orders to his subordinates to take decisive action against street criminals, particularly when perpetrators pose a threat to the lives of the public or police officers. “Do not hesitate to take firm and measured action in accordance with Police Regulation (Perkap) Number 1 of 2009 regarding the Use of Force in Police Actions,” the Police Chief stated.

Furthermore, Asep added that the police will increase coordination with the Jakarta Provincial Government and the Jaya Military Regional Command (Kodam Jaya) to conduct joint patrols aimed at tackling street crime.
