Robbery Attempt Fails, Robbers in Bantul Steal Victim's Motorcycle After She Falls

A woman became the victim of a motorcycle robbery on Jalan Parangtritis, Paker, Mulyodadi, Bambanglipuro, Bantul. The two perpetrators, riding together on a scooter, approached the victim, causing her to fall, and then threatened her with a machete, causing the victim to run away and leave her motorcycle behind.

The Head of the Bambanglipuro Police Station, AKP I Nengah Jeffry, said that the incident began when the victim, identified only as AA (23), a resident of Girijati, Purwosari, Gunungkidul, was on her way to work riding a motorcycle on Wednesday (6/5/2026) at around 4:00 AM.

Upon arriving at Jalan Parangtritis, Paker, two people on a scooter suddenly approached the victim from behind.

“The two perpetrators then tried to snatch the bag carried by the victim, but they were unsuccessful,” said Jeffry when contacted by detikJogja, Sunday (17/5/2026).

However, the two perpetrators continued to try to steal the victim’s bag. As a result, the victim’s motorcycle swerved and collided with the perpetrators’ motorcycle.

“Due to the collision, the victim fell from her motorcycle,” he said.

Seeing the victim fall from her motorcycle, one of the perpetrators immediately got off and approached the victim. The frightened victim then ran away from the location.

“One of the perpetrators approached the victim while carrying a machete, which caused the victim to run away, and in the end, the perpetrator stole the victim’s motorcycle,” said Jeffry.

The victim then reported the incident to the Bambanglipuro Police Station. In response to the report, police immediately launched an investigation by visiting the scene.

“The investigation is still ongoing. The perpetrators are described as two people, one with a thin build and the other with a stocky build. Both perpetrators were riding a scooter,” said Jeffry.
