Robbers suspected in maid's murder

DENPASAR: A 20-year-old maid was found dead here on Monday in the bathroom of her employer's home, with wounds to her head and neck.

Nengah Seriani, 20, from the village of Selat in Karangasem, worked in the house in the village of Damgin Puri Kangin, Antara reported.

A witness said that at 9 p.m. he heard a scream followed by sounds of a struggle coming from the house. Five minutes later the screams stopped.

Badung Police chief Lt. Col. S. Sebayang suspected Nengah was killed by robbers.

He cited damage to a window at the back of the house that could indicate forced entry.

The owner of the house, I Made Siram, said some rooms showed signs of being searched but nothing was missing.

Police took two knives from the house believed to have been used by the thieves to kill Nengah.
