Robbers of general's house nabbed

JAKARTA (JP): Five out of nine suspected robbers were arrested by the East Jakarta police two hours after a robbery of a general's house in Ciracas early Wednesday night.

According to East Jakarta police chief Lt. Col. Miyanto, one of the criminals still at large is believed to have been shot by a member of the Ciracas police.

The detained suspects have been identified as Sanuri, Sulaiman, Maman, M. Yusuf and Yus.

The robbery at the resident of Brig. Gen. Dahlan Effendi on Jl. Raya Bambu Apus Kav. G-1 in Cipayung, Ciracas, took place around 3:15 a.m. Police patrolmen immediately came to the site after receiving information about the robbery.

"After informing all on-duty units, the police officers began to blockade roads to net the suspects," Miyanto said.

About two hours later, one of the units found a minibus with nine people inside. Police raided the bus and arrested five, while four managed to escape.

Based on the report, Miyanto was informed that one of the fleeing four was shot but still able to run away. (bsr)
