Robbers nabbed after 5-month search

JAKARTA: A team of officers from the Jakarta Police arrested two suspected robbers after a five-month search for the pair.

Adj. Comr. Matrido, the head of the team, said on Friday police arrested Suparjo at the Tanjung Priok bus terminal in North Jakarta on Tuesday morning. information from the suspect enabled police to apprehend Jumadi at the Palmeriam market in Matraman, East Jakarta, later that day.

The two suspects were wanted for a robbery that took place in August in Jakarta.

In that August robbery, the suspects allegedly followed M. Yani Ladhi and his wife from a bank on Jl. Gatot Subroto in South Jakarta, after the pair withdrew Rp 9 million (US$1,059).

The victims left the bank, got into their car and drove to Jl. Bendungan Hilir in Central Jakarta, where Ladhi parked the car and the couple went into the Benhil market.
