Robbers make off with gold

PALEMBANG, South Sumatra: A robber posing as a customer snatched and escaped with 134 grams of gold from a jewelry shop here yesterday.

"It happened so fast I and my security guards could not catch him," the owner of the Megah Ria shop, Chandra, was quoted as saying by the Antara news agency.

Chandra said none of the people around had the courage to stop the robber.

Police said they would collect information from eyewitnesses. (ste)
