Robbers make of with German's US$7,000

TANGERANG: A German national has lost his briefcase containing US$7,000 cash, a notebook computer, as well as his passport and other documents in a robbery while he was on his way home to the Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) housing estate from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Wednesday evening.

Stotzel Bodu was in an unlicensed taxi, Garuda Biru Kijang, driven by Tiodin Saragih when two men on a motorcycle approached the taxi and shouted to the driver that his vehicle had a flat tire.

The driver stopped the vehicle and allowed the two men to assist in changing the tire.

As Bodu got out of the car, the two men snatched his briefcase and computer and fled.

Tangerang police detective chief Insp. Asep Adi Saputra said police were still investigating the case on Thursday afternoon, and were considering questioning the taxi driver.

A similar robbery took place earlier this year when a Korean who also used an unlicensed taxi from the international airport was beaten up, robbed and then dumped on the Bintaro-BSD toll road. -- JP
