Robbers kill victim in Cikupa

TANGERANG: A group of men robbed a container truck and killed its driver near the Cikupa toll gate in the Cikupa district of Tangerang early on Friday, police said.

Second. Insp. Sudarso of the Tangerang Police said that Yosep Yulianto and Slamet, two security guards from PT Mandala Sakti, saw the crime take place and reported it to police at 6 a.m.

He said that the two guards noticed a container truck, with license plate number D 9253 M, driven by Nano Suhana, 31, a resident of Margasari subdistrict of Kalijati district in Subang, West Java, being followed by an Isuzu Panther minivan coming from the direction of Serang.

When the truck arrived at kilometer 35.5, near a company dormitory, the minivan stopped it and the occupants of the minivan jumped out and beat up the driver, Sudarso quoted the witnesses as saying.

He said the robbers then tied up the victim's feet and hands, stabbed his neck with a knife and threw his body to the side of the toll road. Sudarso did not say what the men took from the truck.

Sudarso said that police officers then sent the victim's body to Tangerang General Hospital morgue while the truck was towed to the Cikupa Police station.

"We're still in the dark about the suspects. Some of the officers have been tracking down possible leads," Tangerang Police detective chief Insp. Kustanto told The Jakarta Post on Friday afternoon. --JP
