Robberies and looting on roads
Robberies and looting on roads
From Bisnis Indonesia
It is very saddening to learn from the newspapers that robberies and looting often take place on the roads along the north coastal area of Java, which results in scarce supplies of the basic food stuffs in the capital city. I wonder when the people will enjoy an atmosphere of safety in this country?
Also, a feeling of insecurity is gripping those who plan to visit their hometowns and meet their families during the Idul Fitri holidays. Both the people who would use their private cars and those who depend on public transportation share the same feeling of insecurity.
In this context, I would like to appeal to the government to take the necessary measures to make travel safe enough for road users, particularly for the few days before and after Idul Fitri. The robbers and the looters are reportedly well organized. They should not be allowed to carry out their actions unchecked, as if the law of jungle prevails in this country. Nor should poverty and hunger be made an excuse for such condemnable deeds.
Please, once again, security apparatus, do something about it!
