Robber who Killed JICT Retiree Ermanto Usman Finally Arrested in North Jakarta
A brutal robbery that resulted in the death of Ermanto Usman (65), a retired employee of Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT), at his residence in Jatibening, Pondok Gede, Bekasi, has finally taken a significant turn.
Police have now arrested a suspect allegedly involved in the crime. The suspect was apprehended by the Violent Crime Subdirectorate of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police in North Jakarta. However, police are keeping the identity of the arrested suspect under tight wraps.
The Head of the Violent Crime Subdirectorate of the Metro Jaya Police, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Rahim, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
However, investigators are continuing to examine the case in detail, including the possibility of other perpetrators and the methods used in the fatal robbery.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for the Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that investigators are exploring various angles in the case, including the possibility that the victim was deliberately killed.
Ermanto Usman was a labour activist who had been part of the JICT Workers’ Union. He frequently served as a source in the Madilog podcast, which discusses various labour issues, including allegations of corruption at JICT PT Pelindo.
Given Usman’s background, many have suspected that the victim may have been deliberately killed. In response to this, police indicated they would investigate the possibility of premeditated murder in the case.
The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover the motive behind the crime and establish the full circumstances of the incident.
