Robber in Bekasi kills victim using crowbar
Jakarta — The Metropolitan Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate revealed that the perpetrator of a robbery at Prima Lingkar Asri residential complex in Jatibening village, Pondok Gede district, Bekasi city, on Monday 2 March, used a crowbar to kill the victim.
The director of the Criminal Investigation Directorate at Metro Jaya Police, Police Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, explained that among the evidence recovered was a crowbar that the suspect used to pry open windows. “Additionally, scissors were used to pry open windows. This crowbar was also used by the suspect to strike the heads of both the female and male victims,” he stated.
Police officers also found two mobile phones belonging to the victims, with one already sold and the other in use by the suspect. “We also found one laptop and money from the sale of gold. Additionally, we recovered a USB flash drive containing CCTV recordings and a flash drive with CCTV recordings documenting the suspect’s journey to and from the crime scene,” he added.
Metro Jaya Police arrested the suspect in connection with the robbery and murder at Prima Lingkar Asri residential complex in Jatibening village, Pondok Gede district, Bekasi city, on Monday 2 March.
The head of the Crime and Violence subdivision of the Criminal Investigation Directorate at Metro Jaya Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdul Rahim, confirmed the arrest when contacted on Tuesday 10 March. However, he was unable to provide details about the suspect’s identity.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for Metro Jaya Police, Police Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, requested patience on Tuesday as the investigation into the case was still ongoing.
The victim of the robbery and murder was identified as Ermanto Usman, aged 65, who was previously active in port worker organisations, specifically the Indonesian Port Workers’ Federation under the Confederation of Indonesian Workers.
