Holdups of taxi drivers are no longer the monopoly of adults. Teenagers of about 14 years old recently held up a taxi driver. It gives us reason for concern.

Recently a taxi driver was menaced by two teenage passengers, one of them holding a knife to him. Aware that the weapon was at his throat, he forfeited his wallet containing Rp 125,000, the sum he was to pay to his company for the daily rent of the vehicle. The two youngsters ordered him to stop. The driver started yelling for help. A crowd of people managed to catch one of them.

Moral degradation seems to have gone far. It may be caused by economic hardship or it may be influence from their surroundings. The event gives us the shivers. How can 14 year olds commit life- threatening crimes?
