The Depok City Government is carrying out repairs on the Cipayung Highway section in Cipayung, Depok, which will involve an open-close traffic system.

“In connection with urgent reconstruction work on Cipayung Highway (Jembatan Serong-Jalan Muhidin), temporary road closures or an open-close system will be implemented,” stated the official Instagram account of the Depok Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (DPUPR), on Thursday (17/09/2026).

This traffic engineering measure is set to continue until 1 December 2026, as part of road widening efforts. The closure is necessary for road expansion and the installation of sheet piles.

Authorities have advised the public to avoid Cipayung Highway and to adjust their travel schedules accordingly.

The Depok City Government has allocated Rp 1.7 billion for these road improvements. The Head of the Depok DPUPR, Yodi Joko Bintoro, stated that this work is a follow-up stage to the Cipayung-Pitara road arrangement project previously conducted in 2025. The current focus includes sheet pile driving and widening the roadbed.

“For the road widening, we are using a concreting method, while the reinforcement of the river wall involves using sheet piles or driven retaining walls and revetments,” Yodi said, as reported on the Depok City Government website on Tuesday (01/09).

Yodi noted that the work commenced on 9 July 2026 and is targeted for completion by 6 October 2026. The project spans approximately three months with a contract value of Rp 1.7 billion.

“Regarding the technical aspects, we are installing 76 sheet piles, each 15 metres high, along the river wall. Once the soil retaining structure is in place, the roadbed will be widened by 2 metres,” he explained.

Currently, officers are conducting land preparation before the sheet pile driving begins. This stage is being carried out to ensure the work proceeds according to the established plan and targets.

Yodi expressed hope that the entire series of works would proceed smoothly until completion. He also urged the public, particularly users of the Cipayung-Pitara road, to remain cautious during the construction period.

“We urge road users to remain careful and obey traffic instructions around the work site. We also apologise for the inconvenience; this work is being carried out for the benefit and safety of all parties,” he said.
