Roads in Sunter badly damaged

JAKARTA (JP): An official of the Environment Development Supervisory Board in Sunter, North Jakarta, urges the city administration to pay attention to the poor condition of roads in the board's area.

BP Ompusungguh, secretary of the board, said roads in the area are so bad that the flow of traffic entering and leaving the nearby industrial factories is affected.

The poor condition of the roads is caused mainly by the many industrial vehicles, which freely use the roads in the area, the Antara news agency reported.

In a related development, a member of the City Council has asked the city public works office to repair damaged roads, including the ones in Sunter, before they deteriorate further due to heavy rains. (hhr)
