Road work on bridge bursts water pipe

JAKARTA: British tap water company PT Thames PAM Jaya (TPJ) said on Monday that work on a bridge on Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan in East Jakarta by the City Public Works Agency had damaged one of its main pipes affecting water distribution to several areas in the capital.

"We think water distribution to Rawamangun in East Jakarta, part of Sunter in North Jakarta, Kelapa Gading in North Jakarta, and Cempaka Putih in Central Jakarta, will be effected for three to four days," PT TPJ spokesman Ramses Simanjuntak was quoted by Antara as saying.

The company said that it was still investigating the broken pipe but would prepare water trucks to distribute water to the affected areas. --JP
