Road to FP Run for Good Journalism Seeks Public Input
The Indonesian Editors-in-Chief Forum (Forum Pemred) will hold Run for Good Journalism 2026 in Jakarta on 18 October. As a warm-up, it organised Road to FP Run on Sunday (11 October 2026).
The programme featured interactive activities, including a community run, an informal discussion about the media, games and information about the event. Forum Pemred also used Road to FP Run to gather opinions and hear suggestions from the public for the Indonesian press.
The theme of Run for Good Journalism 2026 is “The Press for the Public”. Through the event, Forum Pemred is campaigning for the importance of quality journalism and press independence.
Forum Pemred chair Retno Pinasti said that sustaining media today requires strong stamina and consistency, much like the philosophy of running.
The fun run is a physical expression of the collective commitment of Indonesia’s press community to continue safeguarding journalistic output with integrity.
Asked why the forum chose the theme “The Press for the Public”, Pinasti said that amid waves of disinformation and opinion that have contributed to declining public trust in the media, Forum Pemred wants to reaffirm the press’s role in producing journalism with integrity in the public interest.
Run for Good Journalism 2026 committee chair Masirom said 500 people are expected to take part, including national media editors-in-chief, press communities and members of the public.
As well as a five-kilometre run and walk, organisers will hold a Best Cheering Competition and a Best Costume contest. Communities, journalists and members of the public can win prizes worth millions of rupiah for offering creative support along the route. This will be the second Run for Good Journalism, following the event’s successful launch last year.
