Road to Batutulis Station in Bogor Closed for 3 Months, Residents Complain of Long Detours
Vehicle access to Batutulis Station on Saleh Danasasmita Road in South Bogor, Bogor City, has been completely closed again. The closure is due to subsidence, with concerns over potential landslides when vehicles pass through.
Previously, Danasasmita Road experienced several landslides, eventually allowing only motorcycles. This route is a crucial access point for residents in southern Bogor City to reach economic centres, hospitals, and schools.
“It has been a long time, since January. It was already closed when I hadn’t yet been transferred to the Transportation Department. (The reason for the closure) is subsidence and cracks. The study on the technical feasibility of that road is with PUPR,” said Ridwan, Head of Traffic at the Bogor City Transportation Department, when contacted by detikcom on Monday (20/4/2026).
detikcom observations show that Saleh Danasasmita Road is now fully closed to vehicles, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled. Concrete barriers have been installed in front of the access to Danasasmita Road on Batutulis Main Road.
The main route to Batutulis Station appears to have subsided in the middle section. Remnants of tarpaulin used to cover the subsided road are scattered around. Several motorcyclists were seen turning back, unaware that the road is completely closed.
Residents say the total closure of Danasasmita Road has been in place for about two months. Residents report increasing difficulties when heading to hospitals and traditional markets.
“It’s been about two months (since Danasasmita Road was completely closed), before the fasting month. (The reason it’s closed) there’s subsidence in the middle, so there’s fear of another landslide when passed through, which is why it’s now completely closed,” said resident Adam, met at the location.
Adam said drivers now have to detour through settlements to reach general hospitals, economic centres, and schools. The distance to Pasar Sukasari, which could previously be covered in just 10 minutes, now takes 30-40 minutes.
“I haven’t experienced it myself, but residents from below who want to go to the big hospital have trouble, they have to detour to Cipinang Gading first. To Sukasari, they also have to go through there,” Adam explained.
“Yes, the route is only through there (Cipinang Gading route), and it’s not yet congested because all the motorbikes and cars that used to pass here now go through there. So it’s even farther, the time is longer, what should take 10 minutes now takes 30-40 minutes, because it’s also congested, especially in the morning,” he added.
Residents hope the Bogor City Government will soon repair Danasasmita Road to allow motorcycle access and build a new road for four-wheeled vehicles.
“Well, our hope is for the closest one, namely this road (Danasasmita Road) to be passable by motorcycles again, it’s troublesome to detour via alternative roads. We’ve been like this (road closed) for over a year. And they say they’re going to build a new road, but it’s not done yet, hopefully the construction is accelerated,” said Sudarno, a resident of Pamoyanan, South Bogor, Bogor City.
For information, Saleh Danasasmita Road was closed due to a landslide in early March 2025. That route is used as the main access for residents from the city and Bogor Regency for activities heading to economic centres, education, and hospitals.
As a result of the closure of Danasasmita Road, drivers now have to take alternative routes through dense settlements, luxury housing, and narrow alleys.
Previously reported, the Bogor City Government (Pemkot Bogor) has begun working on the construction stages of a new road or alternative route replacing Saleh Danasasmita Road or access to Batutulis Station, Bogor City. The land purchased from residents is being levelled or cut and filled.
“Pemkot Bogor has begun carrying out cut and fill work on the planned diversion access road from Saleh Danasasmita Road, whose land has been freed. The initial process includes land maturation, cut and fill work, as well as checking and handling utilities at the location,” said Bogor City Regional Secretary Denny Mulyadi on Tuesday (24/2).
