The road stability level in Cianjur Regency, West Java, has reached around 70%. This means that out of the approximately 1,335 km of county-status roads, about 934.5 km are in sufficiently good condition.

The Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUTR) of Cianjur Regency, Eri Rihandiar, stated that this year the local government has allocated a budget of around Rp150 billion for the repair of county roads. With that budget, the road stability rate is targeted to increase to 82%.

“Currently, the road stability level is only around 70%. With ongoing repairs this year, we aim for the stable roads in Cianjur Regency to reach 82%,” he said on Sunday (29/3).

Although about 30% or around 400 km of roads remain in poor condition, he continued, this is not an easy matter. It requires time and a substantial budget to fix them.

“The remaining roads that need improvement are what we are currently enhancing,” Eri stated.

In general, he added, efforts to improve road infrastructure align with the West Java Provincial Government’s programmes. Therefore, support from the provincial government and the central government is very much needed by the Cianjur Regency Government to complete the repairs of damaged roads.

“Hopefully, the remaining roads that need repairs can be addressed through various road infrastructure improvement programmes,” he added.

Support for road enhancements is also being rushed by the local government ahead of the Idulfitri 1447 Hijriah homecoming and return traffic. Several points on alternative routes under local government authority are being repaired using patchwork methods.

“Alhamdulillah, overall, the homecoming and return traffic in Cianjur proceeded safely and smoothly. Especially with the support of road infrastructure conditions that are sufficiently adequate for vehicles to pass,” he concluded.
