Road Rage Incident: Driver Damages Mirror with Wheel Lock on JORR Toll Road

A loud crash was heard from Peter’s (39) vehicle as he travelled along the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) in Pondok Pinang, heading towards Cilandak in South Jakarta, on Tuesday evening (26 May 2026). Peter initially did not expect the driver behind him to escalate the situation so severely. After a minor collision on the toll road, the unidentified man suddenly stopped his vehicle in front of Peter’s car, then got out holding a wheel lock. Peter said the incident began when another car attempted to enter from the Pondok Pinang toll gate in South Jakarta. At the time, Peter suspected the unknown driver intended to move into the left lane but was blocked by his vehicle. ‘Based on my dashcam footage, it seems he was trying to take the left lane but couldn’t, blocked by my car. He probably got angry, then suddenly overtook to the right and scraped my vehicle,’ Peter told Kompas.com on Wednesday (27 May 2026). In the dashcam footage uploaded to social media, Peter’s car was in the left lane while the other vehicle was behind and to the right before the loud crash was heard. Shortly after, the other vehicle stopped in front of Peter’s car. After stopping, the man got out, swearing at Peter, then returned to his car to retrieve a wheel lock. ‘He was shouting, went back into his car to get the wheel lock, then immediately started damaging my mirror and the bodywork,’ Peter said. Peter briefly spoke with the man before raising his windows, but the perpetrator then struck the right mirror three times with the wheel lock. In a mobile phone-recorded video, their conversation is audible. ‘What’s your problem, sir?’ Peter asked.
