Road Patching on Marunda Bridge Deemed Uneven and Wavy
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The patching repairs to damaged roads on the Marunda Access Bridge in Cilincing, North Jakarta, have been deemed to result in a wavy road surface.
One motorist, Nurmansyah (43), stated that the asphalt patches at several points are uneven, causing jolts to vehicles.
“The patching result is not level, so it’s wavy. If a motorbike is going at a reasonable speed, it jolts quite a bit when hitting it,” he said when interviewed by Kompas.com on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
“With the pre-Eid period being quiet, if there were full road repairs, the traffic impact wouldn’t be significant,” he added.
However, the repairs carried out so far have only involved patching as a temporary measure.
Another motorist, Aby (35), also assessed the road patching in the area as untidy and leaving parts of the road that could be hazardous.
“The problem is, the patching is kind of untidy and actually makes the road surface wavy. Also, I noticed that between the concrete sections on the road, some parts haven’t been patched yet, so it’s still dangerous,” he explained.
He hopes for more thorough road repairs to avoid triggering accidents, considering that the route is also traversed by many trucks.
“Yes, I want it tidied up so there are no more accidents. It’s dangerous, this route. Actually, it should be fully concreted again, not just patched with asphalt,” he added.
Based on Kompas.com’s observations at the site, damage is visible at several points on the bridge.
Most consist of small holes due to cracks in the road concrete.
Around these holes, small stones are also scattered.
However, there are several points with quite severe damage.
