The Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) is preparing the revitalisation of roads in the Menteng Tenggulun area, Jakarta, without using the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN). Instead, it will be carried out through a cross-sector collaboration scheme.

PKP Minister Maruarar Sirait, or Ara, stated that this revitalisation is part of efforts to improve the quality of residential environments while encouraging community economic growth.

“We want the revitalisation of the Menteng Tenggulun area to proceed quickly and provide tangible benefits to the community. And we are doing this without the APBN, through collaboration and mutual cooperation with various parties,” said Ara on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

The initiative is supported by a budget of Rp 784 million sourced from private sector contributions, with implementation planned to begin on 26 March 2026 and targeted for completion on 22 June 2026.

In addition to road revitalisation, the government will also renovate residents’ houses through a mutual cooperation scheme with support from corporate social responsibility (CSR).

“There are 81 houses from Astra, as well as 50 houses from Pak Boy Thohir and Pak Lenlen. This is a concrete form of collaboration to help the community,” she explained.

According to Ara, the road revitalisation serves as an initial step to transform the area’s appearance to be more organised, clean, and comfortable, while also enhancing residents’ mobility and economic activities.

This revitalisation is also part of the comprehensive development plan for the Menteng Tenggulun area, including positioning it as a culinary centre.

“We are not only building the physical infrastructure but also building the community’s economic ecosystem. We are pushing Menteng Tenggulun to become an organised area with economic value,” she emphasised.

The Ministry of PKP hopes that this collaboration-based development model without APBN can serve as an example for settlement revitalisation in various regions.
