BOGOR, KOMPAS.com - An access road for residents in Kebon Manggis Village, Paledang, Bogor City, collapsed on Thursday (30/4/202) around 04.00 WIB. Resident Aas (52) explained that the road in the village had indeed been cracked for some time. Residents often carried out gotong royong to repair the road. However, on Wednesday (29/4/2026) afternoon, heavy rain seeped into the cracks. The soil condition then became unstable. As a result, six buildings there are at risk of collapsing if there is a follow-up landslide. The six buildings are five residents’ houses and one madrasah building. The road landslide covered a public toilet located below, right on the edge of the Cipakancilan River. It is known that the height of the landslide on the road in Kebon Manggis Village is around 25 metres and the width is about 120 metres. Residents did not report the road cracks to the relevant authorities because they did not expect it to collapse after the road was patched. “Because it had been plastered, gotong royong had been done, it was thought it wouldn’t collapse. Haven’t reported to the kelurahan yet because the crack wasn’t too big, thought it wouldn’t give way immediately,” he said. At that time, Aas heard a loud sound like cracking earth that woke him from his sleep. After checking outside the house, he saw the road had collapsed and immediately informed other residents to stay vigilant and alert. He continued that there were no fatalities in the incident. Another resident, Ilyas (79), added that the rain that fell on Wednesday caused water to enter the cracks and is suspected to have caused the landslide.
