Road collapse in Pulogadung hampers drivers' mobility since Eid
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jalan Kayu Mas Utara in the Pulogadung area, East Jakarta, has collapsed due to high rainfall, thereby hindering vehicle mobility and residents attempting to pass through since the first day of Eid 2026.
“The incident happened on Saturday (21/3), the road had already collapsed. Vehicles can’t pass, residents are just going along the edge,” said Kasiyah (58), one of the residents of RT 11/RW 03 Pulogadung, who was met in East Jakarta on Thursday.
Kasiyah admitted that the collapsed road condition disrupts daily mobility, especially for car drivers. As a result, they have to turn back and look for alternative routes.
“Cars can’t pass anymore. People are turning back,” said Kasiyah.
Currently, only motorbikes can still pass in a limited manner on the side of the road.
However, the condition is still considered risky for drivers because the road structure is unstable.
“Motorbikes can swerve a bit to pass here, but the others can’t. It’s scary if the road is collapsed like this and still passed through,” said Kasiyah.
Kasiyah admitted that local residents are increasingly worried because the already collapsed road condition is getting worse and dangerous if still traversed by motorbike drivers.
Residents have taken the initiative to close the road area with fences and barrier signs to prevent drivers from passing and for collective safety.
In addition, residents have also reported the incident to the relevant parties. Officials from Pulo Gadung Sub-district and PPSU, she said, have come several times to conduct checks.
“People from the sub-district have already come, officials also come day and night to monitor the road,” said Kasiyah.
Nevertheless, to date, no repairs have been carried out. This condition has lasted about five days since Eid.
Residents hope that the local government will act quickly to repair the road so that access returns to normal and accident risks can be avoided.
