Jakarta – A residential road in Gang Buah VII, RW 09, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, collapsed on Sunday, 8 March 2026. As of Wednesday, 11 March 2026, access along the road remained impassable to vehicles, disrupting residents’ mobility.

Based on observations at the location, the collapsed road section remained damaged and pothole-ridden. The subsided portion was temporarily covered with soil fill.

Both vehicle traffic and pedestrians passing through must exercise caution, as the road has not been fully repaired.

Sudartoto, a 70-year-old local resident, stated that the collapse resulted from the road surface being eroded by water flow from a drainage channel running beneath it.

“The cause is that the road was eroded by water. There is a drain in the middle, and that is the cause,” Sudartoto said when met on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Sudartoto confirmed there were no injuries or fatalities from the incident. However, the collapse significantly disrupted residents’ activities, as the road provides access to Bogor Highway.

The road also serves as a connecting route to Depok and the Cililitan area.

“It is somewhat disruptive, as residents regularly use this route. Officers arrived to handle the situation after the incident occurred yesterday. Hopefully it will be repaired quickly,” Sudartoto remarked.

Mujiono, Camat (District Head) of Pasar Rebo, explained that the collapse resulted from damage to the water drainage channel beneath the road surface, with water flow eroding the road structure.

He stated that the repair process would be conducted in stages. The Sub-District Water Resources Office (SDA) of East Jakarta would first repair the damaged drainage channel. Subsequently, road surface repairs would be continued by the Sub-District Roads and Bridges Office (Bina Marga) of East Jakarta.
