Road collapse due to human error
JAKARTA (JP): PT Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada (CMNP), a company owned by Siti Hardiyanti Rukmana, better known as Tutut, said yesterday that the collapse of a section of raised freeway on Thursday was due to "human error."
"The incident was caused by a human error, not by a construction fault," said CMNP Technical Director Bambang Saroso, adding that Thursday's mishap was the first ever experienced by the company.
CMNP said in a statement that part of the Tanjung Priok- Jembatan Tiga elevated toll road in North Jakarta had collapsed after one of its supports gave way.
The company denied reports that one of its workers died in the accident.
"The incident caused eight workers to suffer injuries," the statement said.
The incident occurred while workers were putting the finishing touches on the road section.
The Tanjung Priok-Jembatan Tiga toll road, which is still under construction, is part of an 11.5 km-long harbor road.
The Rp 500 billion (US$227.27 million) project is scheduled to be completed early next year. (01)
