Road Closure Causes Severe Traffic in Cipayung, Depok; Waste Collection Affected

Cipayung Main Road in Depok, West Java, is experiencing severe traffic congestion. The gridlock is caused by ongoing reconstruction works and a temporary road closure spanning from the Green Pitara housing estate to the Serong Bridge.

Residents in the Cipayung area, Depok, have complained that the closure of this access route is impacting community activities, including the mobility of waste collection vehicles heading to the Cipayung Landfill (TPA).

Local residents noted that neither private nor public transport can pass through the area, and specifically mentioned that waste collection vehicles are unable to deliver refuse to the Cipayung landfill. This situation poses a risk of waste accumulation if collection and disposal activities do not proceed as usual.

One resident, Nurmantio, questioned the closure of a public road that is causing such significant inconvenience. “If residents dispose of rubbish illegally, there are rules and sanctions. We hope that regulations are applied fairly and take the interests of the community into account,” he said.

He added that the impact of the traffic diversion on community access and sanitation services in the surrounding area is very palpable. Residents are hoping that the Depok City Government and relevant authorities will provide a clear explanation regarding the road closure.

The Head of the Depok City Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUPR), Yodi Joko Bintoro, stated that the Depok City Government has closed Cipayung Main Road from the Green Pitara section to the Serong Bridge due to reconstruction repairs. The closure is scheduled from 27 August to 18 September 2026.
