KRL services on the Cikarang-Bekasi route returned to normal this afternoon following the incident where a long-distance train collided with a KRL at Bekasi Timur Station. Several passengers began using the KRL again.

One of them is Rizuka, a female KRL passenger from Cikarang Station. Rizuka said she now prefers to board the train in the middle carriage.

“We’ll just play it safe, so in the middle,” said Rizuka at Cikarang Station, Bekasi Regency, on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

Rizuka said she continues to use the KRL because of its affordable fare. However, she does not deny feeling traumatised after learning about the KA collision incident.

“Because the price is affordable for us lower-income people. As for the trauma, there might be some, because the carriage that was hit was the women’s carriage. Hopefully, there won’t be any more incidents like this in the future,” she explained.

Meanwhile, another passenger, Siti Ayu, said she is grateful that KRL operations have returned to normal this afternoon. On the other hand, she expressed sadness and concern over the train collision incident at Bekasi Timur Station.

“Alhamdulillah, I’m happy (that KRL is operational again). I also extend my condolences to the victims, of course, it’s sad, concerning. As for trauma, no, but it does make us more attentive to PT KAI,” she said.

Bekasi Timur Station Resumes Operations

Bekasi Timur Station resumed operations this afternoon to serve passengers on the Cikarang-Bekasi KRL route. The resumption of KRL services at Bekasi Timur Station came after receiving clearance confirmation from the KNKT.

Observations by detikcom at Cikarang Station on Wednesday (29/4) showed that KRL services on the Cikarang-Bekasi route began operating again at 14.10 WIB. Passengers at Cikarang Station flocked to enter the station to board the KRL.

KRL services on the Cikarang-Bekasi route resumed after the KA collision incident at Bekasi Timur Station. The KRL from Cikarang Station stopped and has already picked up passengers at Bekasi Timur Station.

At Bekasi Timur Station, the KRL is already serving passengers. Several passengers were seen boarding from Bekasi Timur Station.

Previously, Transport Minister (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi, along with PT KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin, test-ran the KRL on the Jakarta-Cikarang route at Bekasi Timur Station. Dudy assured that upon arriving in Cikarang, KRL operations had returned to normal.

Dudy and Bobby tried the KRL on the Bekasi-Cikarang route from Bekasi Timur Station at 13.40 WIB. Inside the KRL, Dudy confirmed that the train behind the one he was on had started serving passengers at Bekasi Timur Station.

“This is part of what we’re doing with the test run. Earlier, KNKT said it could be used. This is the train from Bekasi to Cikarang. After this, Bekasi Timur Station can be fully operational again, especially for KRL to serve the public,” said Dudy inside the Bekasi-Cikarang KRL, on Wednesday (29/4).

“Yes, from Bekasi Timur Station, we’ve opened it and it can serve up to Cikarang,” he continued.
