The panel of judges at the Pontianak District Court has handed down a two-year prison sentence to Rizky Kabah, the defendant in a case of alleged defamation against the Dayak community. Rizky Kabah was also ordered to pay a fine of Rp 50 million.

“[The defendant] committed the criminal act of deliberately and knowingly distributing electronic information of an inciting nature, influencing others in a manner that gave rise to feelings of hatred or hostility towards individuals and/or groups of people on the basis of ethnicity, race, religion, and social class,” the presiding judge stated whilst reading the verdict on Monday (23 February 2026).

For his actions, the content creator from Pontianak, West Kalimantan, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rp 50 million.

“The court imposes a prison sentence of two years and a fine of Rp 50 million, with the proviso that should the fine remain unpaid, it shall be substituted with two months’ confinement,” the panel of judges continued.

The panel also afforded both the defendant and the public prosecutor the opportunity to determine their position on the verdict.

“The defendant has the right to accept the verdict, to file an appeal at the Pontianak High Court, or to deliberate for a period of seven days. The same applies to the public prosecutor,” the panel of judges said.
