Rizki Natakusumah: Attack on UN Peacekeeping Troops is a Grave Violation

Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission I, Rizki Aulia Rahman Natakusumah, has strongly condemned the attack targeting three TNI soldiers in the UN peacekeeping force (UNIFIL) in Lebanon. The attack on peacekeeping personnel constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the UN Charter. “We certainly strongly condemn this attack,” said Rizki on Wednesday, 1 April 2026. According to him, the attack on the peacekeeping troops is completely unjustifiable. Indonesia’s peacekeeping force is present in Lebanon not to wage war or launch attacks, but to ensure the security of civilians amid armed conflict. According to him, the TNI soldiers on duty have carried out the constitutional mandate in maintaining world peace. “Indonesia’s peacekeeping force in Lebanon is present precisely to ensure there are no more civilian casualties from armed conflict,” said the politician from the Democrat Party faction. “We give our highest appreciation to our soldiers,” added the legislator from the Banten I electoral district. Rizki also urged the UN Security Council to immediately take firm action. He demanded a transparent and comprehensive investigation into the attack that occurred. “Hopefully, a thorough and transparent investigation can take place. We extend our condolences and pray that the bereaved families are granted strength,” he stated.
