River Overflow Causes Bronjong in Cimoyan, Pandeglang to Subside, PUPR Assures Safety
The Banten Provincial Government has completed the village road project on Jalan Surianeun-Pasirgadung in Cimoyan Village, Patia Subdistrict, Pandeglang Regency. However, the bronjong along the roadside bordering the river has experienced subsidence.
Head of the Provincial PUPR Department, Arlan Marzan, stated that the approximately 2.50-kilometre road was constructed using a concreting method. The project is part of the 2025 Bang Andra (Building Prosperous Village Roads) Budget Year Programme.
“The Surianeun-Pasirgadung road section is one of the priority regional infrastructure developments handled directly on the initiative of Banten Governor Andra Soni,” said Arlan on Saturday (11/4/2026).
Arlan also reported that there has been subsidence in the bronjong or soil retention section on the side of the road. This bronjong directly borders the river.
“Based on monitoring results, this condition occurred due to an increase in the river’s water discharge in the surrounding area, which temporarily overflowed, thus exerting considerable pressure on the bronjong structure,” he said.
However, Arlan stated that the road condition remains safe and passable. The subsidence occurred in the bronjong section and did not damage the main road structure.
“The bronjong was a community proposal, which was then accommodated in the Bang Andra Programme. Currently, this condition has received attention and is being handled by the relevant parties,” he said.
Arlan noted that the road construction work is still within the contractor’s one-year maintenance warranty period after completion.
“Therefore, repairs to the subsided bronjong section will be the responsibility of the service provider and are assured to be carried out promptly in accordance with applicable provisions,” he said.
Arlan urged the public to remain cautious when passing through the location. According to Arlan, the road condition is still safe for public use.
