The overflow of the Candigara River flooded residential areas in Kusamba, Klungkung, Bali, following heavy rain from Sunday night into Monday. The Klungkung Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that 20 families were affected by the floodwaters, which also caused a bathroom belonging to a resident in Bingin hamlet to collapse after its foundations were eroded. A small temple building on the riverbank was also destroyed by the strong current. The floodwaters receded quickly after the rain stopped, and no material losses were reported from the inundation itself.

Klungkung BPBD Head I Putu Widiada stated that the flooding was exacerbated by a housing development that narrowed the river channel and by residents’ habit of dumping rubbish into the waterway. He confirmed that the agency would ask the River Basin Agency (BWS) to demolish structures built illegally on the riverbank. Meanwhile, the severed road will be repaired using the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency’s maintenance budget.

In Pesinggahan Village, high rainfall intensity triggered a landslide that caused a 10-metre section of road to collapse, isolating 10 families. Village Head Nyoman Suastika said emergency repairs using stone, backfill, and concrete are being carried out with community cooperation and assistance from the Dawan Police to reconnect access for the affected residents.
