Riva Siahaan's Sentence in Oil Corruption Case Reduced to 7 Years

The Jakarta High Court has reduced the sentence of Riva Siahaan, the former president director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, in a corruption case concerning crude oil governance. Riva’s sentence was cut from nine years to seven years in prison.

Riva Siahaan’s appeal verdict was handed down on Thursday, 25 June 2026. The appeal was adjudicated by a panel of judges chaired by Catur Iriantoro, with members Hotma Maya Marbun and Bragung Iswanto.

“Declares that the Defendant Riva Siahaan has been legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption carried out jointly, as stated in the primary indictment,” said presiding judge Catur Iriantoro while reading the verdict, as quoted from the Supreme Court’s directory of decisions.

“Sentences the Defendant to imprisonment for 7 years,” the judge added.

The appellate judges sentenced Riva to pay a fine of Rp 500 million, with a subsidiary penalty of 140 days of confinement. In addition, the appellate judges added a sentence requiring Riva to pay restitution amounting to Rp 5 billion, with a subsidiary penalty of 4 years of confinement.

“Orders that the period of detention already served by the Defendant be fully deducted from the sentence imposed,” the judge stated.

Previously, Riva Siahaan’s sentencing hearing was held at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Thursday, 26 February. The judge declared Riva guilty of jointly committing corruption in the crude oil governance case. The judge sentenced Riva to 9 years in prison. The judge did not sentence Riva to pay restitution, but only imposed a fine of Rp 1 billion, with a subsidiary penalty of 190 days of confinement.
