JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Digital forensic expert Rismon Sianipar has been reported to Metro Jaya Police by former Marowali DPRD Chairman Irwan Arya for alleged fraud related to a book titled “Gibran End Game”.

The report was triggered by Sianipar’s change in stance after meeting Vice President of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka and the 7th President of Indonesia Joko Widodo.

Irwan claimed to feel deceived because the book had previously been promoted as containing research to uncover the authenticity of Gibran’s diploma.

Irwan said he was initially interested in buying a large number of the books when he met Sianipar in person at the Car Free Day event on Sudirman–Thamrin in January 2026. He planned to buy around 300 copies, but limited stock meant he only purchased some.

“I was enthusiastic about buying many of those books. It turned out that what he brought was very limited, about 100, so I tried to buy 60 copies, and the remaining more than 200 I postponed for now,” Irwan explained when contacted by Kompas.com by telephone on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

Irwan admitted to spending around Rp 6 million to buy the 60 books. He said his interest in Sianipar arose after reading research co-authored with Roy Suryo and Tifauzia Tyassuma in the book “Jokowi’s White Paper”.

He originally intended to distribute the book to the public in Kalimantan. However, on the day of purchase, Irwan decided to give it to Car Free Day visitors. He also planned to order more than 200 additional copies through Sianipar’s treasurer.

That plan was cancelled after Irwan heard Sianipar’s admission following the meeting with Gibran at the Vice Presidential Palace on 12 March 2026. He considered this change in stance to make the book’s content no longer relevant.

Irwan stated that the loss he suffered was not only material. He believed the greater impact was felt by the public who had received information from the book.

After the meeting with Jokowi and Gibran, Sianipar is said to be planning a new book to clarify his research findings. However, Irwan deemed this step insufficient.

“In my opinion, that is just brushing aside the hot issue of the day, perhaps to reduce public scrutiny and possibly to seek justification for himself,” he said.

Irwan then reported the alleged violation of Article 492 of the Criminal Code on fraudulent acts and Article 486 of the Criminal Code on embezzlement. The report was registered under number LP/B/2952/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA dated 24 April 2026.

In the report, Irwan submitted the “Gibran End Game” book as evidence, screenshots of proof of purchasing 60 books, and several videos. One of them shows the moment he was with Sianipar at the Car Free Day on Sudirman–Thamrin.
