Metro Jaya Police have affirmed that the mandatory reporting status for Rismon Sianipar, the suspect in an alleged defamation and slander case concerning forged credentials of former President Joko Widodo, remains in effect throughout the 2026 Eid holiday period.

Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Affairs at Metro Jaya Police, explained that mandatory reporting represents a legal control mechanism for individuals under suspect status. However, investigators may grant special consideration if legitimate reasons are presented.

“Mandatory reporting continues because it is a way to control persons with suspect status. However, if the individual coordinates and presents a legitimate reason, investigators will certainly provide accommodation on humanitarian grounds,” Hermanto stated at Metro Jaya Police headquarters on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Hermanto emphasised that mandatory reporting is personal in nature and cannot be delegated to others, including family members. The suspect must independently account for their legal status.

“It cannot be delegated. The legal obligation attached to suspect status cannot be transferred to parents or family members; the individual concerned remains responsible,” he stressed.

Regarding the possibility of the suspect travelling during the holiday period, police requested Rismon to maintain active communication with the investigative team. Such coordination can be conducted formally or through reliable digital communication channels.

“As long as there is communication with valid reasons, investigators will certainly provide accommodation,” Hermanto added.

Rismon Sianipar was designated as a suspect in the alleged defamation and slander case concerning forged credentials. He remains under suspect status despite having met with and apologised to Widodo.

Jokowi accepted the apology from Rismon Sianipar regarding allegations of forged credentials that had previously caused public controversy. This was confirmed by Widodo’s legal representative, Yakup Hasibuan, following a meeting between the two parties at Widodo’s residence in Solo on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

Hasibuan explained that during the meeting, Rismon openly acknowledged his error and expressed his conviction that Widodo’s credentials were authentic.

“The meeting was essentially for familial relations, and during that opportunity Mr Rismon apologised to Mr Jokowi for his accusations regarding Mr Jokowi’s credentials. He emphasised his conviction that Mr Jokowi’s credentials are authentic,” stated Hasibuan in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Responding to the apology, Hasibuan noted that Widodo graciously accepted Rismon’s apology. However, regarding Rismon’s legal status, which is currently being processed by police, his legal representative will defer the matter to the investigative team for consideration.

Rismon was designated as a suspect in the forged credentials case against Widodo. In addition to Rismon, Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa were also designated as suspects.

“Regarding this, Mr Jokowi also accepted the apology. As his legal representatives, we will inform the investigators about this matter for subsequent consideration by the investigative team,” he added.
