JAKARTA – Digital forensics researcher Rismon Sianipar has claimed to have discovered new findings regarding the controversy surrounding the diploma of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo. These findings are said to potentially differ from the conclusions previously detailed in his book Jokowi’s White Paper.

Rismon conveyed this during a meeting at the Jakarta Metro Police headquarters on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. However, he did not disclose the specific contents of his new findings in detail.

He only explained that the findings relate to digital image processing analysis comprising three main variables: translation, rotation, and lighting.

According to Rismon, the possibility of changing conclusions is purely influenced by ongoing research developments.

He also stressed that his research was conducted independently and was not influenced by other parties, including Roy Suryo or Tifauzia Tyassuma.

Furthermore, he claimed his research was objective and not based on personal sentiment towards any party.

“And once again, this is not about liking or disliking, hating or not hating, this is about scientific work. And a researcher or scientific worker must be based on their findings, not because I don’t like them,” he stated.

Amid developments in the case against him, Rismon also submitted a request to resolve the matter through a restorative justice mechanism to investigators.

“So a few days ago RHS, together with his lawyer, submitted a request for restorative justice facilitation to the investigator. And we are making efforts to facilitate the request submitted by the suspect RHS,” said Iman when met separately.

Previously, the Jakarta Metro Police established eight suspects in the case of alleged defamation and spreading allegations of a forged diploma against President Joko Widodo.

“The Jakarta Metro Police has established eight suspects in the case of defamation, slander, hate speech, and electronic data manipulation reported by Ir. H. Joko Widodo,” said Jakarta Metro Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri during a press conference at the Jakarta Metro Police headquarters on Friday, 7 November 2025.

In general, the suspects were charged under Article 27A and Article 28 of the Information and Electronic Transactions Law (ITE), as well as Articles 310 and/or 311 of the Criminal Code with maximum prison sentences of six years.

In the investigation process, the suspects were divided into two clusters based on their actions.

The second cluster consists of Roy Suryo, Rismon Sianipar, and Tifauzia Tyassuma. They were charged under Article 32 paragraph (1) and Article 35 of the ITE Law regarding alleged deletion, concealment, or manipulation of electronic documents.

In the development of the case, the suspect status of Eggi Sudjana and Damai Hari Lubis was later revoked after investigators issued an Investigation Termination Order. Both resolved the case through a restorative justice mechanism.
