Rismon Sianipar Meets Gibran at Vice Presidential Palace
JAKARTA — Rismon Sianipar, a suspect in a case alleging forged credentials of Indonesia’s seventh President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), met with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday (13 March 2026) morning.
According to monitoring by Kompas.com, Rismon arrived at the Vice Presidential Palace complex at approximately 09:57 Western Indonesian Time. Dressed in a dark blue shirt and trousers, Rismon walked directly into the Vice President’s Office. Upon arrival, Rismon declined to comment extensively on the purpose of his visit. The meeting between Gibran and Rismon was held behind closed doors.
Rismon is one of several suspects in the case alleging forged credentials involving Jokowi. Following an extended investigation, the Metro Jaya Regional Police have designated eight individuals in total as suspects.
Rismon had previously apologised to Jokowi and his family regarding his findings. “As a researcher, I respectfully apologise to Mr Jokowi’s family concerning the new findings that I announced,” Rismon stated on Thursday (12 March 2026), as reported by the Balige Academy YouTube channel. Rismon also acknowledged that there were errors in his previous research published in the book Jokowi’s White Paper.
Vice President Gibran responded positively to Rismon’s apology in writing. “Ramadan is an excellent month for mutual forgiveness and rebuilding the bonds of brotherhood,” Gibran said in his statement on Thursday (12 March 2026).
In his statement, Vice President Gibran also praised Rismon’s clarification and willingness to reconsider his previous statements. According to Gibran, this step demonstrates maturity in democratic practice.
