Rismon Sianipar Hands Over Diploma Authentication Book to Jokowi in Solo
Digital forensics researcher, Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar, visited the residence of the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), in Sumber, Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday (17/6). The visit aimed to present the results of his latest research titled ‘Authentication of Joko Widodo’s Diploma’.
During the meeting, Rismon revealed that Jokowi welcomed the results of the re-investigation conducted over the past three to four months. The book is expected to serve as scientific reference material in various libraries across Indonesia, particularly within university environments.
“I explained the contents to Mr Jokowi. Sir, this is without political affiliation, and any researcher can correct the research findings,” Rulmon told journalists after the meeting. He added that Jokowi was open-minded and supported the idea of disseminating the book, including using it as a subject for book discussions in the library of Gadjah Mada University (UGM).
This meeting marks the second time Rismon has visited Jokowi’s residence. The first meeting occurred on 12 March, regarding peace through restorative justice, which led to the issuance of a police decision to terminate the investigation (SP3) regarding the case involving Rismon.
Rismon’s legal counsel, Jahmada Girsang, who accompanied him, asserted that the presentation of the book is a form of his client’s moral responsibility. He noted that the book serves as a correction to a previous work, the ‘Jokowi White Paper’, which Rismon co-authored with other parties.
“Like a bird, Rismon is now free to fly high. But he holds a high moral responsibility towards Mr Jokowi,” said Jahmada.
He assessed that this latest book is a purely scientific work that clarifies the authenticity status of the diploma through methodological means.
Jahmada also revealed that Jokowi had signed the book as a form of appreciation and understanding of its contents. “Mr Joko Widodo has signed it. This is rare, meaning he understands the contents, so it must be published immediately as we intend,” he added.
Despite personal relations having improved, Jahmada suggested that the legal proceedings regarding defamation should continue until a final and binding court decision is reached. This is considered essential to establish binding jurisprudence and provide permanent legal clarity.
“We are advising that the case must proceed to court until there is a binding decision. Otherwise, there is a fear that this matter will never be resolved,” Jahmada emphasised.
On the other hand, Rismon emphasised that as a researcher, his primary focus is on data validity, rather than public opinion or political interests. He hopes his research findings will not be dragged into the realm of practical politics.
“My task is to research; therefore, I am not responsible for external opinions. I have learned from this case that when research is brought into the political domain, it becomes a tool to destroy political opponents,” Rismon stated.
Following the visit, Joko Widodo did not provide an official statement to the media. He was observed leaving his house to greet and shake hands with dozens of residents who had been waiting in front of his residence to pay their respects.
