Risk-Prone Work for Rp 1.8 Million Salary: Mataram Firefighters Propose Rp 300,000 Incentive

The Mataram City Fire and Rescue Service (Damkar) has proposed an increase in incentives for its personnel. The incentive, which currently stands at Rp 150,000 per member per month, is proposed to double to Rp 300,000.

The Head of Mataram City Firefighters, Rudi Suryawan, stated that the proposal will be submitted through the 2027 Regional Budget (APBD) pure allocation.

“We will see if it can indeed be increased by 100 per cent per member. We are hoping for next year,” said Rudi during an interview on Monday (18/09/2026).

Rudi explained that the proposed incentive increase considers the workload and the risks faced by firefighters while on duty in the field. The additional incentive is expected to help meet the needs of personnel, including transportation costs.

“The workload of the members is indeed heavy. Previously, they used to receive duty allowances, but that was temporarily discontinued. We are currently working to revive that,” Rudi explained.

Currently, the salary for Mataram City Firefighters ranges around Rp 1.8 million per month. In addition to their salary, they receive an operational allowance of Rp 150,000 per month.
