JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The rise in plastic raw material prices is beginning to draw attention in the automotive industry, including for the Harley-Davidson brand. This material plays an important role in the construction of modern motorcycles, from bodies to various support panels. When its price increases, production costs also have the potential to rise accordingly. However, up to now, the impact has not yet been directly felt on the selling prices of Harley-Davidson motorcycles in Indonesia. He emphasised that current price calculations are still based on the applicable cost conditions, so there has been no direct adjustment due to the surge in plastic prices. Nevertheless, Irvino acknowledged that other factors are having a more noticeable impact, namely fluctuations in foreign exchange rates. This means that although pressure from the raw materials side is starting to emerge, external variables like exchange rates remain the main determinant in price formation. In the Indonesian market, Harley-Davidson motorcycle prices are currently in the premium segment. As of April 2026, they range from around Rp 400 million up to Rp 1.3 billion, depending on the model and dealer policies. Meanwhile, the Touring line, which is a favourite among consumers such as the Harley-Davidson Road Glide and Harley-Davidson Street Glide, is marketed in the range of Rp 1.2 billion to Rp 1.3 billion. Under these conditions, Harley-Davidson appears to still be striving to keep prices competitive amid cost pressures. The rise in plastic raw material prices does indeed have the potential to affect production costs, but so far it has not become the main factor driving price adjustments for consumers.
