Rising Healthcare Costs Demand More Strategic Workforce Management
Rising healthcare service costs and changing workforce expectations are pushing companies to manage human resources more strategically. Employee health is no longer viewed merely as a facility or operational cost, but as a critical factor influencing productivity, talent retention, and business sustainability.
To address these challenges, Meditap held the Overlooked Medical Trend 2026: From Medical Trend to Workforce Strategy forum in Batam on 3-4 June 2026. The forum was attended by more than 400 company leaders from human resources, finance, and business fields who discussed various workforce management strategies amidst the ever-changing dynamics of the working world.
The event brought together various stakeholders, including BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, insurance companies, hospitals, HR platform providers, health technology companies, and Meditap. The forum served as a space for discussion and collaboration to share experiences and best practices in facing the challenges of modern workforce management.
Carrying the theme From Medical Trend to Workforce Strategy, the event encouraged companies to view employee health issues from a more comprehensive perspective. Worker health is considered to have a close relationship with employee work experience, productivity levels, workforce loyalty, and the achievement of company business targets.
"Many companies still view employee health as merely a cost burden. In fact, the health condition of the workforce has a direct influence on productivity, employee experience, and long-term business continuity," said Meditap CEO Ardianto Utomo.
Various strategic issues were discussed during the event, ranging from employment trends, employee wellbeing, healthcare cost management, employee benefit management strategies, occupational health and safety, retirement planning, to the utilisation of technology and data in supporting decision-making processes.
In addition to the conference on the first day, the event continued with an interactive workshop on the second day. This session provided participants with the opportunity to delve deeper into various strategies for managing employee benefits, controlling healthcare costs, increasing productivity, and long-term workforce planning.
