RI's Bakom Welcomes Homeless Media at Press Conference

A press conference by Bakom was held at the Bakom RI Office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (6/5/2026). The press conference was led by Bakom Head Muhammad Qodari.

Before delivering the material, Qodari welcomed the presence of the New Media Forum at the press conference. According to Qodari, the New Media Forum is a collaboration of new media players.

“On this occasion, before moving on to the material, we also warmly welcome the friends from the New Media Forum, our new partners in the Government Communication Agency within Indonesia’s digital media ecosystem,” Qodari stated.

Qodari referred to these new media players as formerly known by the term ‘homeless media’. These ‘homeless media’, he said, have now transformed into new media.

“The New Media Forum is a collaborative platform for several new media players. So previously, they were known by the term homeless media, but the friends have endeavoured to transform into new media,” he said.

Qodari detailed the New Media Forum participants present, including Folkative, Indozone, Dagelan, Indomusikgram, Infipop, Narasi, Muslimvox, USS Feeds, Bapak-bapak ID-Menjadi Manusia, GNFI, Cretivox, Kok Bisa?, Taubatters, Pandemictalks, Kawan Hawa, Volix Media, Ngomongin Uang, Big Alpha, Good States, Hai Dulu, Proud Project, Vibes, Unframe, Kumpul Leaders, CXO Media, How To Do Nothing, Everless Media, Geometry Media, Folks Diary, Dream, Melodi Alam, NKTSHI, Modestalk, Lead Media, Nalar TV, up to Mahasiswa dan Jakarta as well as North West.

Qodari noted that the presence of this new media can reach the public through digital channels. According to Qodari, new media must be embraced to become increasingly quality, similar to conventional media, such as implementing balanced reporting from both sides.

“So yesterday, we discussed at Bakom with the new media friends, whether it is possible, for example, to have a mechanism for cover both sides in new media? If it’s not yet possible, what other methods can be used, such as verification methods, that are suggestions from the new media friends,” he explained.

“But several other aspects are already fulfilled, for example, they have companies, they have some kind of editorial team, yes, they have addresses,” he added.
