RI's anti-graft commission

From Media Indonesia

Graft has, virus-like, infected the entire Indonesia. This country always ranks high in a list of corrupt countries. However, this does not mean that graft cannot be eradicated, or at least, minimized.

As graft is an organized and hidden crime, the participation of the community in efforts to eradicate it is absolutely necessary. Therefore, the community must also be involved in the Indonesian Anti-Graft Commission. Without such participation, this project will be meaningless. In order that we may receive critical opinions from the community on the project of establishing this commission, we have launched our website under this address:

Community members may provide suggestions and opinions about graft eradication and we will consider them invaluable input to improve this project.

This project is a joint undertaking between the Indonesian government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and will last for a year, beginning July 17, 2000. The legal basis for this project is the mandate decreed in Law No. 31/1999 on the eradication of the criminal act of graft.

Further to this, international consulting firm De Speville and Associates, along with the Institute for Civic Education on Indonesia (ICE on Indonesia) acting as the domestic consultant, will make a blueprint for the Indonesian Anti-Graft Commission that will also make the community better realize the harm that graft entails.

If you are interested in greater details about this project, surf our website. We hope this website will enable us to communicate intensively with the community. It is our common task to eradicate graft. Let's join hands to build a cleaner Indonesia.
