Riot Police Disperse Gang Violence in East Jakarta and Bekasi, Confiscate Weapons
Patrols were conducted in the early hours of Saturday (May 16, 2026), targeting several vulnerable areas. The patrol team moved to several locations, including East Jakarta, Bekasi, and Tangerang.
Commander of the Brimob Unit of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Henik Maryanto, stated that area patrols and rapid response in the field are preventive measures to reduce the potential for security disturbances, especially gang violence that disturbs the public.
“Brimob personnel will continue to increase patrols during vulnerable hours and take swift action against any potential security disturbances found in the field,” said Commissioner Henik in a statement.
Gang Violence Dispersed in Ciracas
The patrol conducted by a joint team from the B Battalion of the Pioneer Brigade of the Brimob Unit of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police and the Perintis Presisi of the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police thwarted a planned gang violence incident involving a group of teenagers in the Jalan Tanah Merdeka area, Kampung Rambutan, Ciracas, East Jakarta. During the activity, officers secured two golf clubs suspected of being used for street violence.
In addition to securing the golf club evidence, officers also dispersed a group of teenagers who were still gathering before dawn in the Jalan Pembina area, Ciracas. Officers provided humane appeals for the teenagers to immediately return home to prevent potential gang violence or other criminal acts. The situation in the jurisdiction of the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police until the end of the patrol was reported to be safe and conducive.
Two Teenagers Secured in Bekasi
At the same time, the Kompi 2 Patrol Team of the D Battalion of the Pioneer Brigade of the Brimob Unit of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police secured two teenagers suspected of planning to commit gang violence in the Kaliabang area, North Bekasi. Both were secured when Brimob personnel conducted area patrols to anticipate gang violence, theft, and illegal racing in the jurisdiction of the Bekasi City Metropolitan Police.
The officers found the two teenagers on Jalan Kaliabang at around 04:45. During the inspection, personnel found one golf club, two cell phones, and one motorcycle suspected of being used for gang violence.
“The two teenagers were immediately secured to prevent clashes between groups,” he added.
Before the security measures were taken, the Brimob patrol team first patrolled several vulnerable areas for security disturbances, such as Jalan Harapan Indah, Jalan Ahmad Yani, Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Jalan Ir H Juanda, to Jalan Chairil Anwar. During the patrol, officers also provided guidance to several teenagers who were caught violating traffic rules during the night and early morning.
Gang Violence in Kosambi, One-Meter Machete Confiscated
Meanwhile, the Brimob patrol team of Kompi 1 of the C Battalion of the Pioneer Brigade of the Brimob Unit of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, together with the Teluknaga Police, dispersed gang violence on Jalan Kosambi Timur, Tangerang Regency. From the location, officers confiscated a one-meter-long machete suspected of being used for gang violence.
The joint patrol previously patrolled several vulnerable areas in the Kosambi to Dadap area to anticipate gang violence and street crime. Upon arriving at Jalan Kosambi Timur, officers found a crowd involved in gang violence and immediately dispersed them to prevent casualties and damage to the surrounding environment.
